Rabbi's Welcome

Rabbi Terry

Welcome to Agudath Sholom!

We hope that you will join us as guests or members under our tent of hospitality. Like the legendary tent of Abraham and Sarah, we are open on all four sides eager to welcome you with the comforts of a small Southern Jewish home -- good food, friendship, music and Torah. We welcome all Jews and your loved ones. If you are intermarried, we welcome your family. If you are a friend of our tribe, we welcome you. We have a place for everyone under our tent.

We are in the midst of exciting times for our congregation. We are building a new playground for our growing religious school. Our new youth group is creating their own youth lounge. Our new education committee began a popular twice-monthly movie night at the synagogue, as well as seminars on topics related to Israel and the Holocaust. My classes this year include two beginning Hebrew classes and an Introduction to Judaism class. Our services range in style from kid-friendly to traditional Conservative to campy sing-along to classical Reform. We support one another by enthusiastically participating in every service. We are a Jewish family that plays together, works together, prays together. We celebrate Shabbat with food, as well as song, sometimes at the synagogue, sometimes in the rabbi’s home. We are tiny, but everyone contributes their talents to the benefit of us all.

Come on down to our place! I look forward to greeting you in person!
